Wore these straight out of the box on a 6-mile day hike and my feet felt fine by the end, no break-in needed. The midsole cushioning is the real winner here, and they stayed surprisingly light for a waterproof shoe.
These handled a muddy, rainy trail without a drop getting through — the waterproofing actually holds up. The midsole cushioning is the real surprise, my feet didn't ache after six hours of hiking.
