Bought this for my daughter's recess duty and the fleece side is so thick and cozy she actually keeps it on now. The hood stays up in wind, which never happens with her other jackets.
I flipped it to the water-repellent shell side for a rainy walk to school and she stayed completely dry. The hood is roomy enough to fit over her beanie without tugging, which is a small thing but it matters on cold mornings.
My daughter wears the fleece side on milder days and flips it to the water-repellent shell when it's slushy out, so it covers way more of winter than her old single jacket did. The high-pile fleece is genuinely soft, not that scratchy stuff.
