Wore the shell alone on a drizzly hike and stayed completely dry, then zipped the insulated liner in for a cold morning walk and it was plenty warm. Having two jackets in one is genuinely handy for unpredictable weather.
The liner jacket is warmer than I expected for how thin it packs down, and I've been wearing it on its own for cool mornings. Zipping the DRYVENT shell over it got me through a rainy afternoon without a single leak.
