Outer layer and midlayer in one. The Fuego Vest packs 800-fill responsibly sourced down into a recycled nylon shell with a downproof coating, then keeps the silhouette clean — two zip hand pockets, two interior dump pockets, an adjustable bungee hem and an interior zipper guard. It stuffs into its own pocket when the day warms up.
Wore this vest over a sweater on a windy 40-degree hike and stayed perfectly warm without overheating. The recycled nylon shell shrugs off light drizzle, and it stuffs down small enough to live in my daypack.
The 800-fill down is no joke, this thing is toasty for how little it weighs. I've been stuffing it into my tote for cool mornings and it springs right back without losing any loft.
I wore this vest on a windy hike last weekend and it's shockingly warm for how thin it packs down. The 800-fill down lofts right back up after stuffing it in my pack, and the recycled nylon shell has shrugged off light drizzle so far.
