If you redesign one of the most popular socks in the line you better come correct. Increased breathability with mesh panels on top of the foot, a new smooth ribbing upper that stays put forever, and extended cushion over the Achilles - just a few heavy additions to one of the lightest hike socks out there.
Wore these on a 9-mile hike and my feet stayed dry the whole time, which never happens for me. The mesh panels on top really do let the heat out, and the ribbing didn't slip down once.
I was worried the new version would ruin a good thing, but the ribbing on the upper actually stays put without digging in. The cushioning underfoot feels just right for long days on the trail, and my feet stayed dry thanks to the mesh panels.
Wore these on a 9-mile hike and the mesh panels on top really did keep my feet from overheating. The ribbing stays put too, no sliding down into my boots once all day.
