Wore these straight from the car to the trailhead and they felt broken in from step one, no stiff ankle to fight. The waterproofing held up crossing a muddy creek, and they're light enough that my feet weren't dragging by mile six.
Wore these straight out of the box on a muddy trail and my feet stayed completely dry through two stream crossings. They're light enough that I forgot I had hikers on, and the women's-specific fit means no heel slipping on the downhills.
These have kept my feet bone dry through two muddy trail walks already, which is more than I expected from something this light. Only gripe is the ankle collar rubs a bit until you break them in.
