The shade clips right onto the carrier frame and actually stays put on bumpy trails. My toddler napped through a sunny afternoon hike instead of squinting the whole time, and it packs down small enough to forget about until you need it.
Took this on a sunny hike and my toddler actually stayed cool underneath instead of getting fussy. The only hassle is wrestling it back into its stuff sack afterward, but it's worth it for the shade coverage.
The sunshade does block glare on bright afternoon walks, which my kid appreciates. Fitting it to the carrier takes some fiddling each time, and it only works with the one PerfectFIT model, so it's a decent add-on but not a must-have.
