The wool-polyester blend actually keeps me from overheating when I'm splitting wood, then it's warm again once I stop. Two washes in and there's no pilling on the plaid at all, which is usually where flannels fall apart on me.
Wore this on a cold morning hike and it handled the sweat without feeling damp, then stayed warm once I stopped. The wool blend doesn't pill at all after a few washes, which is more than I can say for my old flannels.
Wore this on a chilly morning hike and it regulated heat way better than a regular flannel would. The anti-pilling claim holds up after a few washes, no fuzzy patches yet. Wish the sleeves were a touch longer, but that's my only gripe.
