The mesh panels actually do their job — my head stayed cool on a sweaty afternoon run instead of turning into a swamp. And the shorter brim gives me a clear view of roots and low branches, which saved me more than once on a rocky descent.
Ran a muddy 10k in this and it stayed put the whole time. The shorter brim is the real win, I could actually see the roots and rocks ahead of me instead of a shadow.
