The microdenier fleece is genuinely softer than any hoody I've owned, and the anti-pilling finish has held up great after a couple of months of constant wear. It's light enough to layer under a jacket but still warm on its own.
I've washed this hoody maybe a dozen times now and there's zero pilling, which says a lot since my old fleece looked fuzzy after two washes. The microdenier fleece is soft enough to wear against a t-shirt but still warm on its own.
Wore this on a chilly morning hike and it was the perfect layer under my shell. The microdenier fleece is softer than I expected and hasn't pilled at all after several washes.
