Wore the shell alone on a drizzly spring hike and stayed perfectly dry, then zipped the ThermoBall liner back in for a cold morning at the resort. Having one jacket that covers both is exactly what I needed.
I've worn the triclimate setup in two different seasons now and the layering is what sold me — the inner Thermoball piece works on its own for a chilly fall hike, then zips in for full snow days. The outer shell blocks wind on the lift without feeling bulky.
Wore this on a wet, windy day at the resort and stayed completely dry. The zip-out ThermoBall liner is genius, I wore it alone on the drive home and it packs down small in my bag. Two jackets in one for the price of a decent shell.
