My dog was nervous about water until this toy — it sits high enough that she can see it bobbing and actually swam out to grab it. The pontoon shape means it doesn't sink even when she misses the catch.
Tossed this into the lake and it sat right on top like a little raft while my lab paddled out to grab it. The pontoon shape keeps it high on the water even when he shakes it around, and he's already carrying it up the snowy hill for winter fetch.
The pontoon shape does float well on the lake, no argument there. But it's so light that even a light breeze pushes it off course mid-throw, which got annoying fast.
