The 1-inch width bites into the cam buckle without slipping, which is exactly what I needed for strapping lumber to my roof rack. Tensioned them down on a rough dirt road and nothing shifted an inch.
These held my two kayaks rock solid on a 70 mph highway drive without a single slip. The cam buckle bites down hard and the 1" webbing hasn't frayed at all after a season of salty river trips.
Ratchet cam holds tight on my raft frame even after a full day of bouncing down bumpy roads, no slipping at all. Only gripe is the tail end of the strap is a bit stiff to thread through the buckle the first few times, but it loosens up.
