These shorts have the same stretch-woven fabric as the pants, and it moves with you instead of feeling stiff. I wore them to a backyard dinner and then on a quick trail walk the next day, and the 5" length never once rode up.
Wore these on a week of hiking in warm weather and never once felt restricted climbing over rocks. The stretch-woven material dries fast too, which saved me after an unexpected creek crossing.
The stretch-woven fabric moves with me on hikes without feeling like thin gym shorts. Only quibble is the 5" inseam runs a touch short for my taste, but they dry fast and pack down small for travel.
