Wore this under a shell on a windy 35-degree hike and my core stayed toasty the whole time. The down packs down small enough to stuff in my daypack, and the armholes don't bunch up when I'm layering a hoody underneath.
The down insulation in this vest is no joke — my core stayed toasty on a 35-degree morning walk while my arms didn't overheat. It packs down small enough to stuff in my daypack, and layering it under a shell works just as well as wearing it over a hoody.
Wore this under a shell on a windy hike and the down insulation kept my core toasty while my arms didn't overheat. Only gripe is it runs a bit snug over a thick hoody, so size up if you plan to layer heavy.
