The Cascadia Elite is a force of nature on the trail, packed with DNA GOLD 100% PEBA cushioning, a Vibram Megagrip Elite outsole, and a MATRYX® engineered woven upper with Kevlar fibers to help secure your feet firmly from mountain peak to podium.
The MATRYX upper with Kevlar genuinely locks my foot in on off-camber sections, no sliding around inside the shoe. The Megagrip outsole bit into wet granite slabs where my old pair just skated.
Wore these on a rocky, rooty 12-miler and the Vibram Megagrip outsole just bit into everything, even wet slabs. The PEBA cushioning is springy without feeling mushy on the downhills.
The MATRYX upper with Kevlar feels locked-in on rough descents, but the fit runs narrow for me. Cushioning is decent, though I expected the PEBA midsole to feel softer after longer runs.
