Crossed three icy creeks last weekend and my socks stayed bone dry the whole time — that GORE-TEX membrane really does its job. The toe box felt roomy without being sloppy, and the rock plate saved my feet on the sharp stuff.
Wore these through a muddy, soggy trail run and my feet stayed completely dry the whole time. The waterproof membrane is noticeably lighter than I expected, no stiff pressure points around the ankle either.
The GORE-TEX membrane does keep puddles out on wet mornings, but my feet run hot and the shoe feels clammy after an hour on the trail. Grip on loose gravel is solid, just wish the upper breathed better.
