Wore this vest over a fleece on a breezy 40-degree morning and my core stayed warm the whole hike without overheating once the sun came out. It stuffs down small enough to clip onto my pack, which is why it's basically lived in my daypack all shoulder season.
The down fill packs a surprising amount of warmth for how light this thing is—I threw it in my daypack for a shoulder-season hike and barely noticed the weight. It's my go-to layer now whenever the temps get unpredictable.
